CERAMIC COATING FAQ

Ceramic Coating FAQ: FAQ

WHAT IS CERAMIC COATING?

Ceramic coating is an auto detailing liquid that has to be professionally applied and removed for best results. The ceramic coating can be applied on various surfaces such as paint, vinyl, paint protection film, plastics, lights and even glass. The coating is applied only after a thorough wash, clay bar treatment and iron decontamination are performed. It is recommended to either polish or perform paint correction procedures before applying the coating for maximum results. A thin layer of ceramic coating creates a hydrophobic barrier between the clear coat of the paint and the outside environment. In addition the coating gives the paint a deep glossy shine that can last up to 7+ years. After the coating is applied you will notice just how shiny your car is, the coating will reduce the number of washes by repelling elements with hydrophobic properties to keep your vehicle clean and shiny longer saving you money and time!

DO YOU REQUEST A DEPOSIT?

All requested appointments require a paid invoice. All Ceramic coating services require 50% deposit to book an appointment. The remaining balance of the ceramic coating service is due at the time of vehicle pick up. We conduct all operations on an appointment only basis and a partial deposit allows us to efficiently schedule our clients at their convenient time.

HOW LONG IS THIS SERVICE?

The application of ceramic coating can take 2 - 8 business days depending on the package selected and the size of the vehicle. Please note that polishing and paint correction services can add several or more days to a project but will yield a much higher quality final result.

WHICH PACKAGE DO YOU RECOMMEND?

We offer three packages for each category of vehicles. The first package (wash, clay, coating) includes a thorough wash, clay bar treatment and finally coating application. This package is recommend for brand new vehicles right off dealer lot as the paint and overall quality of the exterior is excellent. The second package (wash, clay, polishing, coating) includes everything in the first package but before the coating is applied, the exterior paint of your vehicle will be machine polished to remove very fine elements such as hard water stains, bug splatter, minor swirl marks and refresh the paint. This package is recommended for recently purchased vehicles within 1-2 years of ownership. The third package (wash, clay, correction, coating) is the most advanced restoration and coating package. Instead of just polishing the exterior pain we spend up to several days removing up to 90% of surface level (clear coat) scratches and swirl marks making even older or classic vehicles ready for showroom shine and protection. This package is recommended for older vehicles that show obvious signs or aging of the paint such as swirl marks, minor scratches and fading of the paint. The final decision ultimately comes down to you and what you think is the right choice.

WHAT BRAND OF CERAMIC COATING DO YOU USE?

EpicWorx prefers to use Adam's polishes Graphene infused Ceramic Coating  Professional line of products to deliver our clients highest quality results. Each coating is rated to withstand harsh weather conditions and high temperatures, provide unparalleled level of hydrophobic properties to repel dirt, water and other elements. The best part is that the coating is rated to last 7+ years by the manufacturer providing years of amazing shine and protection from the environment.

WHICH SURFACES CAN CERAMIC COATING BE APPLIED TO?

Graphene infused ceramic coating can be applied on a variety of surfaces such a paint, plastics, lights, glass in addition to vinyl, and paint protection film. We would discourage application of the coating on any textured plastics, fabric and leather.

HOW SOON CAN I WASH MY CAR AFTER THIS SERVICE?

After ceramic coating application we recommend our clients to stay away from rain or moisture for at least 24 hours and avoid washing the vehicle for at least 7-10 days. The ceramic coating takes on average 24 hours to bond to the clear coat of the vehicle however the longer you can avoid contaminants in the first week or so the better it is.

HOW DO I MAINTAIN CERAMIC COATING?

The best part is that now washing your vehicle will be a much easier process as less dirt will attach to the treated areas. Nevertheless it is crucial to maintain the ceramic coating correctly in order to preserve the hydrophobic properties and longevity of the coating. We advise our clients to maintain their vehicles with us for the best results, however the minimum would be a hand wash and an application of a high quality sealant. It is important to remember to avoid automatic car washes or have the vehicle detailed by a party that is unfamiliar with ceramic coatings.

CAN YOU APPLY CERAMIC COATING ON VINYL WRAP OR PAINT PROTECTION FILM?

YES. Not only is it possible but it is highly recommended to have the vinyl wrap or paint protection film treated with ceramic coating for the best results. The coating will work just like it would on a painted surface creating a hydrophobic barrier between the material and the outside world.

CAN YOU APPLY VINYL WRAP OR PAINT PROTECTION FILM ON TOP OF THE CERAMIC COATING?

NO. It is not possible to apply any film on top of the ceramic coating without first removing the coating itself. The ceramic coating creates a hydrophobic layer meaning it would be very difficult if not impossible for a film to stick to the treated surface properly. EpicWorx advises against attempting to apply film to surfaces that have been recently treated with ceramic coating.

HOW LONG DOES CERAMIC COATING LAST?

The coating is rated by the manufacturer to last 7+ years. While the longevity of the coating is around 7 years it is crucial to properly maintain the coating to get the most out of it by washing the vehicle on regular basis, detailing with a high quality sealant and removing acidic contaminants such a bird droppings, bug splatter and tree sap.

WHAT CERAMIC COATING WILL NOT DO.

While the ceramic coating is an excellent way to protect your vehicle, give it a nice lasting shine and reduce the work it takes to wash it, there are some misconceptions. Ceramic coating will not protect against scratches, dents or damage. The vehicle will still get contaminated with dirt but at a significantly lower rate. Ceramic coating does not mean that now you don't need to wash or care for your vehicle, regular hand washes are still necessary to maintain the coating in pristine condition.
