VINYL WRAPPING FAQ

Vinyl Wrap FAQ: FAQ

WHAT IS VINYL WRAP?

Vinyl wrap is a thin cast vinyl material that can be stretched and molded into very complex shapes. The vinyl is produced in a variety of colors, textures and finishes. It is the most popular option when it comes to changing the way your vehicle looks. We only use vinyl that is specifically designed for automotive graphics. The film has air release technology on the adhesive side that makes sure no air is left trapped under the film eliminating bubbles. It is an amazing technology and the possibilities are endless. We encourage you to reach out to us to see what we can do for your vehicle.

HOW DO YOU PRICE VINYL WRAP?

When pricing a full color change vinyl wrap we take several things into consideration such as the size of the vehicle as well as the type of vinyl that will be used. Due to several factors involved we would need to know the the type of vinyl and your vehicle specification to accurately quote the price. Typically gloss, satin or metallic vinyl will be the least expensive option. Next up is textured vinyl such as carbon fiber or graphic vinyl such as camo or pattern wrap. The most expensive vinyl is chrome.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOSIT?

All vinyl wrap services require a 50% deposit to book an appointment. The remaining balance of the vinyl wrap service is due at the time of vehicle pick up. Cancellations made before project specific materials are ordered receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations made after project specific materials are ordered will receive a partial refund that will equal to original deposit minus costs associated with vinyl film and costs associated with purchasing the film. Unfortunately we can not return the vinyl due to the supplier's policy.

DO YOU OFFER A WARRANTY?

All vinyl wrap services receive a 1 year parts and labor limited warranty against pre existing factory film damage, peeling or bubbling excluding damage caused by negligence and normal wear and tear. The film is rated by the manufacturer to last a number of years and is specifically designed for automotive application.

WHAT VINYL BRAND DO YOU USE?

There are many brands of vinyl film out there. We only use industry leading brands that are specifically designed for automotive graphics. 3M and Avery Dennison produce the highest quality films that guarantee quality and durability for years. We trust these films to outperform the competition and have had great success using them.

HOW LONG CAN THE WRAP STAY ON MY VEHICLE?

The vinyl wrap can stay on the vehicle for up to 10 years. However, the ability to safely remove the wrap without damaging the paint underneath will depend on several factors such as the brand of the film used as well as finish and texture of the vinyl. We recommend to always reference manufactures suggested time frame however most vinyl wraps can safely stay on the car for up to 5 years.

HOW TO MAINTAIN VINYL WRAP?

Maintaining vinyl wrap is fairly simple. We recommend our clients to stay away from pressure washers and automated car washes as those can damage and lift the film, introducing contamination. We advise our clients to let us maintain their vehicles, however a ph balanced hand wash with a microfiber towel and a high quality sealant should be the bare minimum to make sure the vinyl film is maintained properly. We recommend hand washes and the removal of bird droppings on a regular basis to preserve the wrap.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VINYL WRAP AND PAINT PROTECTION FILM?

Paint protection film and vinyl wrap are two different categories that are designed to deliver different value. The paint protection film is thicker than vinyl and can absorb impact from rock chips and minor scratches. While Vinyl wrap is a stretchy material that comes in a variety of colors, textures and finishes its primary goal is to change the color of a particular part or the entire vehicle. Although vinyl wrap can protect from light scratches it is not designed to be a significant protection against rock chips and scratches.

WHAT COMES STANDARD WITH EACH VINYL WRAP?

Full color change wraps will receive interior and exterior detailing service as well as iron removal and clay bar treatment. Partial wraps receive a thorough hand wash, clay bar treatment and iron removal on all applicable surfaces. These are important steps that we do not skip as they determine the longevity and adhesive quality of the film.

HOW SOON CAN I WASH MY CAR?

For all vinyl wrap installations we recommend our clients to wait at least 7 days before attempting to wash their vehicle. It is advised to avoid using pressure washer or automated car washes so as to reduce any damage and or possible lifting of the film, which can introduce contamination.

WHAT VINYL WRAP DOES NOT DO?

Vinyl wrap is not meant to be a permanent option. The film has to be removed within manufacturer suggested time frame to avoid damage to the paint. Vinyl wrap unlike paint protection film will not provide a significant protection against rock chips or scratches. The film doesn't provide protection against dents or hail damage.
